So it may not look like it but I spent a really long time on this today. Trying to figure out what it was and get all the shading just how I wanted it. Stippling takes a really long time... I have to figure out a different method to shade in ink without things getting dark too fast. Ink makes me a little nervous. Living without the comfort of an eraser. I'm need to explose some ink art and try new techniques. Maybe tomorrow :) All daily winners will be listed after the daily blog. Free Art Friday!I know what I would call this... but I'm curious to know what you see. What would this be to you? Name: "Monsieur Detective" Bio: One of the absolute best the global anti-crime syndicate's forensic science division (or GACSFSD for short) has ever seen, he's found evidence in even the most doubtful of situations. In the recent years, a scandal came about claiming that some of his dna work has been forged. However, when backup investegators were called in, they found no single bit of misconduct. This only added to his validity and reputation. Some could say that this type of work is just in his DNA (referencing the bottom half of the card looking like a fingerprint)." Also I wanted to ask your opinion: Do you think we should enter anyone who comments on a blog into the drawing or keep it to only those who ask to be entered? Toady is the first day we give away a card! All those who requested to be entered in a blog comment by 12pm last night will have a chance to win. To find who won click read more! --> And the winner is...To win this Original work of art just comment in the blog, but you must ask to be entered into the drawing in your comment to be entered. Good Luck! I got a lot done today....
So for me this is a sort of angler fish. It has jet propulsion similar to a squid. There are cat fish properties and it has a terrifying back face to scare away the larger fish. If you turn the card to the right you can see the scary face. Today I went and picked up my art! I asked the lovely Ashley to do the honors and draw names from a creature hat for the original works given to kickstarter pledgers above $10.00. We also gave away the special $5.00 Original donated by Monika Morrow. I recorded a video of it on my ipad and as soon as I can figure out how to get it off I will post it for your enjoyment. Once I get the upload figured out I am going to do one more kickstarter update. Then I'll be ready to get the majority of pledges packaged up! It is so exciting to see my babies travel the world to find new homes. I was apparently in a morbid mood today for some reason. Might have been from the dream my mom had last night. She told it to me right before I went to work. Today was my last day of work in the gallery. :( I'll be picking up my work tomorrow. That could have been it too... the end of something. I was thinking about how certain beautiful animals with vibrant colors are poisonous. It seems to have six leg so i'm guessing insect.
The neck of the dead person was confusing and then turned into a rat. Yeah for severed heads. I miss the Walking Dead. Card name: "Fallen Faerie" Story: Once hailing from much greatness, and now amounts to little more than a scavenger. Its own kind banished her from their kingdom due to multiple accounts of lust and greed. When this creature was banished thousands of years ago, they gave it the form of an insect because that's what they deemed proper punishment. Its DNA lives on in the modern insect type known as the "mosquito." Today I tried to look at the splotch from a different perspective. I used the negative space created by the white areas of the card to create the figure in the center. The rest developed as a means of resolving the shapes found in the exterior space. Forcing myself to make sense of the entire work lead to some fun little additions. I have been considering my inspirations: Dr. Seuss Shel Silverstein, Eric Carle, Tim Burton. They created their own strange and wonderful tales with creations that accentuated the stories. They are far from perfect and I love that about them. They all remain implanted in my memory whilst many other artists and images have been forgotten remaining vague thoughts at best. Why haven't I allowed that to naturally occur in my art and satisfy me? I am warming up to the idea of illustrating. To win this card please comment on this blog saying you want to be entered to win it. After 7 days we will draw a winner. Good luck! I had a lot of fun with this card. I tried to make sure that all the different random color areas were given a function save a few little random dots that the sky color pretty much took care of. This card makes me smile and I really enjoy the narrative. I'm not sure why I don't do it more often.
Part of me is dealing with a bit of concern that some days there will be no one to give the card a home. Perhaps I could put it on listia like the first six months. Maybe get the word out a bit more. This is my first time presenting my work without the support of an already established host. I admit I'm a bit nervous. This is the third card I did today. I decided that this one was my favorite and I wanted to give this away. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
I have included a little information about winning a creature to the right of the blog -------->>> This little fellow has been affectionately named "Boop" by it's new owner. (like the sound you make when you push someones nose with your finger) He is whistling. Day 1: First Free CardFor those returning welcome back, and for those joining us it is a pleasure to present to you our very first day's creature! I had talked bout starting off with magnets, but since I was making the digital hug I got the ATC itch. I made this little cutie and a few other cards that I'll introduce to you another time. Most of them will end up becoming rewards for kickstarter pledgers.
