"Crescent Moon ride"Final bid 1010 credits. This card is going to Washington D.C. Today has been full of activity. I gave the kids a bath and then sent Ash to school. Kaleb and I got ready and went to the post office, Paper Mermaids, and Walmart. I bought more than I came for (evil store j/k) and we went home. It was nearly 2:00pm and I hadn't started my card yet. There was lots that still had to take place in the day and I was quickly running out of time.
I went for faster startup than staring at the card with the minimal time I had to work. The mouth of the creature is mildly adapted from a dragon I saw on a Deviant art page, but after that I changed it and changed it and changed it some more. I'm glad there will be color on this or they would see a lot of change marks. I really liked how they had drawn the teeth poking out. Now that I look at it that is the most realistic area and then the others get flat... hopefully I can adjust for that with the painting... I guess mine are too straight. Sorry thinking and typing. I struggles with weather to make the nose are the eye or to give it one big cyclops eye or two or... and then I thought of this. Aw it's driving :) Changes the card dramatically from an ominous creature to a playful moment. I hope I can get it to look like a space ship/

Final bid 1343 credits. This card will be staying in Oregon. I choose to leave the eye open for the outline today. I will probably color most of the center in with black but I wanted to leave it open for other peoples interpretation. I was just replying to a comment on yesterday's card and thought of how nice it will be to make these into a coloring book. I will get to see a lot of different color options come to life. These could really be so many different things. It helps make the extra work in this process more fulfilling. Hm... my brain is starting to crank. I could take one card and make a series of different ways to color it.
Anywho, I had trouble with this creature. i'm not exactly sure what it is and with the epic crop it's even harder to tell. I was thinking owl like for a while but it has either two beaks or pincers now. I think color will benefit this card and I'm thinking of giving it a lot of feathery texture. This card is also interesting the other way around but I felt this direction was a stronger image. Final bid 1010 credits. This card is going to California. I'm particularly happy with how the segmented tentacles came out. Hopefully they will paint as easily. The card wanted to be something cute at first when I was working on it. I didn't like what was coming out. This is the free association attempt to force a card to become something else. I think the little detail lines really go a long way in this image.
Ash was not feeling well this morning so we stayed home from church. I've been working on my last drawing that I have to do for tickets purchased from my february show. It has been tricky to fit in the commissions amidst the rest of life. I think it's finally starting to work. I just need to get the face right... sigh Final bid 1010 credits. This card is going to New York.
Final bid 808 credits. This card is going to California in a set with #17.
Final bid 353 credits. This card went to California in a set with #18.
Final bid 1898 credits. This card went to California. I had a dream about a creature but then I forgot to draw it when it came time to make the card. This was basically a free association card.
Final bid 505 credits. This is going to Tennessee. The Powerful Ninurta called The God Of War in Sumerian and Akkadian mythology as well as the God Of Thunderstorms in Mesopotamian beliefs. He like to go about the day drifting in the sky enjoying the warmth of the sun. He travels through the lands watching over people and animals and forestry. He loves animals and nature because they live peacefully going about their days in enjoyment only causing pain when need be. Yet he himself knows that war is needed or over population will become an urgent problem as well as knowing there are evils in the world of both realistic and mystic. He has fought many creatures and monsters never once did he lose in battle. As you can see he is carrying his trusted Mace named Sharur who can speak. They sometimes spend hour talking about things they have done in the past or sometimes just about the sun and the stars. Ninurta name directly means lord of the earth and has a strong sense of right and wrong. If it is dry he can make it rain, thunderstorm or flood depending on his decision. Ninurta’s earliest name was Imdugud which means Rain Cloud and that is why here he looks like a cloud. He could transform into his more human form, but he prefers to drift above us with Sharur and enjoy life until he is needed to help out once more. This is a mixture of real facts and what I think he would say and do. Facts: Ninurta called The God Of War in Sumerian and Akkadian mythology as well as the God Of Thunderstorms in Mesopotamian beliefs He had a Mace named Sharur who can speak. Ninurta’s earliest name was Imdugud which means Rain Cloud Sometimes I see things in the cards. There are small areas that are raised in the natural process of making the paper. These tiny variances began this creature. Free association finished it. I'm not exactly sure what it is which will make it difficult to paint. I'm not sure which direction the creature goes either. I see a weapon in there but exactly what it's firing or being held by is still up for discussion.
Final bid 152 credits. This card went to California. I was able to get this card done earlier than usual... mostly because I did not sleep in as long as normal. I need to take care of some errands but I can't go until I find my hat. I was just wearing it yesterday so what did I do with it?
Final bid 448 credits. This card is going to California. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!
So I forgot that it was mothers day when I was drawing this card. I was inspired by a sculpture in the gallery. Today was my first working day in For Artsake Gallery. I had a good time. The start went quickly and I only had a slow hour or so. I think the card has a nice longing feeling to it. Might just be that looking off in the distance thing. |
