Well I was to this point in the blog post when I feel asleep on the couch sitting up last night, so I'm posting this before something happens and it doesn't go up for another day. I'll do my best to answer any questions you have about any piece I don't discuss well.

Yes, Creatures 141 and on are using Acrylic paint. These are the first creatures to include Acrylic paint to date. Black boarders are for photographic representation only and are not part of the artwork itself.

*Day 148 is a large banner taller than my son. I have to measure it and post the results. Every year there is project at Nye Beach here in Newport Oregon for local artists to decorate banners that are subsequently hung around nye beach from approximately June to November. In November the banners will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to support arts in the community. Since the creature has already been donated to the project you can't win the actual banner (unless you want to talk to me about bidding on it at the auction); however, if you want to join with me in this donation I will dedicate the piece to you (or anyone you choose) and you will receive a program from the project in November that includes images of all the banners made and your dedication. If no one enters on this piece I'll just leave the dedication out. I believe the goal of the Nye Beach Banner project is very similar to my Creature Card goals, in supporting viewing and ownership of art as well as funding classes to help those interested in the creative process.

I had this card as shown at the last creature postings but felt  the background and possibly a neck needed to be finished in some way. After talking to my mom she suggested that it was finished. What do you think?

I'm trying to finish off all the usable splotch cards Kaleb made last fall for this project. These three came from the save 5 x 7 cut into 4 parts. I just found the last piece so I'll work on that next. Unfortunately it won't come until later and I didn't create these planning for them to be shown together. If you put the puzzle together the underlying paint connects, but that's it.

The white ink is wonderful, but it is hard to draw on top of it. Sorta like drawing on white out. It works wonderfully as an after thought. Perhaps I could have painted on her face, but it was a learning experience and I liked her sans expression. I think she is contemplating getting a manicure :)

It has been requested, since things have shifted during the project, that creatures who receive no entries be given 3 extra days on this site for people to enter. It's not visibly available for you to know how many entries each drawing is getting. Perhaps your looking for something with a little more guarantee and these creatures will be nearly begging for a home, or maybe you think you have received many creatures and hadn't entered to give others the chance. I will post winners and second chance 3 day drawings tomorrow!

I will make a number of creature domino pendants soon. They will, most likely, be the last creature jewelry for the project. Just so you know :)

While communicating with my online artist trading group I was introduced to a new fabulous white pen, the Uniball Signo. These six cards represent my experimentation and incorporation of the new ink into my creatures. I love my new pen!

Day 124 - 129 creature drawings are open to anyone who hasn't yet won three creatures since the start of May. The deadline to enter is 12 am pst, May 22nd.

These past few weeks have been rough headache / migraine wise. I haven't had a day without a headache in some portion of the day, and some of those days being so full that I can't manage to accomplish anything. I have spoken to a few different people concerning this. I believe the best course of action, in order to complete the project is to make a slight adjustment. Instead of the drawings being one each day I will have to finish the same amount of drawings as before, but will be able to make multiple creatures on days where my health allows an art marathon. I will still try to make a card every day but will be able to rest when I need to most. Watching my health get progressively worse over time is difficult. It is hard when  knowing how much I could accomplish before to be faced with the question of how one goes about being content with considerably less functionality. I used a page from my recycled antique Bible defining contentment to make Day 124 creature, while contemplating the position I've been placed. 

Half a year equals 182 days. Even though I will not be able to keep the daily portion of the goal because of my health I will still complete 182 creatures. Since this shifts the days a couple others details will be shifting as well. These should reduce a bit of the work load for me (I do this all myself.) First off how will you be entering based on time when the creatures aren't day based correctly. Here is how I will handle it. May June and July would allow everyone THREE more opportunities to win creatures. Starting in May everyone will have three chances to win any creature that remains (Less than 60 more to come.) When your three are up you're done.

He forgetteth not the cry of the humble.

So I haven't had much to write lately. Partially, I believe, because I've been unable to get to the blogs directly after creating the creatures. I have a hard time remembering the state of mind and days events after the fact. I'm going to try something a little different for these delayed posts and just talk about what is going on atm when I'm posting. Hard to forget what's happening right now.

Today is the first day where I've allowed the kids dad and girlfriend to take them around for a visit in their own car. They come up to visit once a year. They will only be here for two days and I have to start to learn to trust them. I was really hoping I could take the time I had free today and get some spring cleaning done that really needs to happen. Once I got home it has been hard to keep the anxiety of the moment under control and getting a lot accomplished just isn't reasonable yet. Hopefully I'll get better at this and can really make the most out of my time. For now I'm just trying to stay calm and get this posted. One day at a time.

Well my head still hurts but I have to get these posted while it's waining. My hope is that I can find them all for photographing and remember what order I created them in. I'm also going to be working on stamping cards and preparing for mailings. I will post the winners once I am at that stage. I have a number of winners from here and Listia to send out.
