Today was interesting in a very hard to explain way. I couldn't fall asleep till very early and then I didn't want to wake up till very late. I got a sizably late start on my creature for the day and being forced to take many breaks to tend to the the little ones, I didn't get the card done until just before the kids bed time. I ran out of the middle grade led I had been using. It was so whittled down I wasn't sure what grade it was. The best I could find in my supplies was an H. I would have preferred a B. It is becoming clear that I need to stock up on leads and organize them better. Starting with a lighter grade led can lead to a more realistic image but adds to the time it takes to produce the image dramatically. There is less dramatic contrast and more subtle tonalities, for better or worse. I am hoping to have the opportunity to go by the new Blick art store in Portland on the 26th when I have to be there for a va voc rehab appointment. Two birds with one stone kinda thing.
My goal with this card was to maintain a positive level of cute. From my Facebook discussion of cuteness I tried to amplify the scale of the eye glare. I also noticed, while looking at some deviant art, that many of the cute things have practically no neck. Those were the properties I tried to utilize in this drawing. Final bid 784 credits. This card will be sent to Illinois to live with Yang and Mizz Thang. This card was named Yang. It is the Great Dane sized dog like animal of Mizz Thang of Tang (see card 7.) This creature would be a lavender purple color.
