So I owe you all a lot of updates. I'm trying to think of how best to do this. Make one huge long post you will never get through or lots of small ones? If I break them up the last one will get lost in the mix. So I am just going to put them here and try to visually break them up and recap what I can remember thanks for your patience! "Penguin"Creature Card #8 Ink Edition Final bid 41 credits. This card is going to Tennessee. This boy is named is Penguin. He is the son of a Witch and a Ice Cream Trunk Driver. He is a little Goblin Spirit. He loves to cause mischeif and see what he can make people do. He likes to talk and spread rumors. He just wants to have fun. Goblin Spirits are just like that. This card is a testament to the craziness of the day it was drawn and it only qualified as being drawn on March 8th because I don't consider it to be the next day until I have gone to sleep. I awoke early around 7:30am after sleeping for about 3.5 hours. I had been packing the night before trying to get ready to move and not getting as far as I had hoped to get. After getting my daughter off to bed I returned home and barely got on the internet before my friend showed up to pick up my son. As soon as he was gone I got back into packing mode. My parents arrived around noon and we went to lunch. It was my mothers birthday and I treated her to Cajan food at a local restaurant in Portland. We returned home with just enough time for me to instruct my mom and dad on how to proceed in packing and I left to go get my daughter from school. I picked her up and took her to Vancouver Washington to meet up with my friend who was watching my son as well. After that I headed back to get into the packing again. I got distracted while packing and my dad and I ran a little late picking up the budget truck. When we returned with the truck a few friends from church had already arrived and helped me load my art into my trunk. A few men from church arrived and started to take my old couch out. Then a friend from my previous work arrived just in time to help them take the couch out. Thankfully my work friend is a very strong man and was a great asset to the moving process. I was very blessed to have as much help as I had. We were able to get all of my things loaded up into a 16 foot budget truck by about 8pm. My friend brought my kids back and we about to leave when she realized she locked her keys in her car. My parents left with the truck and their vehicle and the kids and I waited with her until her husband was able to come by and let her in. I'm not exactly sure when we left Portland but it was probably around 9pm. I had been thinking about my card all day, yet there had not been a spare moment to work on it. I drank about three red-bulls and pulled into my parents home in Newport around 12:30am. I was able to inflate a mattress and get the kids to sleep on it, and put the cat into a breezeway for the night. I tried to pull out my cards but got very dizzy from all the caffeine, no dinner and lack of sleep. I sat on the kitchen floor forcing myself to eat. My medications do not react well when I don't eat and have a lot of caffeine. I tried to draw a card that already had a layout on it but my hand was unsteady. A friend had suggested that I just draw a basic smily on a card and call it good. I could not bring myself to do that but I did make this character instead. I was very surprised to see anyone bid on it. I hope that the story makes the card worthwhile to them. I am hoping to add a little present in with their card when it mails, but I'll see what I can come up with. What a day! Creature Card #9 Ink Edition Final bid 505 credits. This card will be the first to go to Maine! Here is what the winner said about this character. "I don't have a name for my creature. I can tell you though she is very small. She is actually a hermit crab/phoenix hybrid, to use words we can relate to. She is very very old and wise, living under the sea for centuries. She doesn't talk much, she is a caretaker of sorts. Maybe she has a little pearl she keeps in her shell like a crystal ball? I don't know she isn't telling me. This card was created the day after moving from Portland. I had an appointment to go get my new apartment at about 1:30pm so I had a bit of time prior to that to begin the card. There were many transitions as it went. It was somewhere in the middle of the card when I went and got my new apartment. My cat had dug a whole in part of the breezeway area he was in and escaped. Optimistically, I figured he would probably, eventually, return and God gave me a great peace about the situation. We had planned to move some of the items in the same day and the rest the following day. My pastor, father and a friend from church arrived to help. One of my new neighbors volunteered to help as well which was a wonderful and generous offer. Surprisingly it went much faster then expected and we were able to get the entire truck unloaded in a few short hours. After that I returned to my parents to relax with my mother and finish my card. In the evening I took the kids to the new apartment and put them to sleep. I stayed up re-organizing things so the kids would be safe in the new environment. I stayed up very late to accomplish the task. Creature Card #10 Ink Edition Final bid 1210 credits. This card was actually given to me and I haven't decided what to do with it yet... oh I guess that means I have to name it... hmmm After the last few days I was completely exhausted. I slept in as long as the kids would allow me to. The internet was scheduled to be hooked up from 1-3pm. They did not actually arrive and finish the job until 4:30pm. After that my dad and I took the truck to a friends in toledo where I gave them my washing machine, and then on to another city to drop off the truck. In retrospect I might just pay the extra fee next time so I don't have to drive so far to drop off the truck. After moving you just want to be done with it all. I can't honestly remember when I had this card completed or much else about the day. Creature Card #11 Ink Edition Final bid 252 credits. This card is going to a new person in Minnesota! :) I tried to sleep in very late again. I don't remember if I did much unpacking this day. I was still very exhausted from the previous days. I know at some point I did some shopping... might have been this day or the next. My new neighbor visited for a bit, but the rest of the day is foggy. The days that I don't have a specific event to recall are very much a blur. This would be one of those days. Creature Card #12 Ink Edition Final bid 434 credits. This card will be going to California. Called "Angel" and inscribed with 4/4 it will be used in a card game by the winner! The weather was nasty. We went into town to visit Ash's new school and try to get her signed up. It looked like she would be able to go the very next day. That evening it started to snow (which is rare for here.) Ash went out with the neighbor and played in it making a small snow man. She said it would snow all night. I didn't expect her to be right. The neighbor said he had lived here practically all his life and never seen so much snow. My grandfather said they reported about 6 inches which is A LOT of snow for the coast. So much for global warming lol. As the evening progressed the power went out. No school tomorrow after all. "Here doggy, doggy" Creature Card #13 Ink Edition Final bid 1121 credits. This card will be going to California. Named "Here doggy, doggy." Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Spencer. He had always wanted a little dog of his own, so one day, when a dog followed him home from school, he was more than delighted to have its company and even went as far as bringing it into his house as his own. However, that night, when Spencer's parents came home, they would not have a "filthy animal" in their home, so they made Spencer get rid of it. Spencer took the dog to a nearby cave that night instead of abandoning it. He fed it and raised it as his own, until one day, the dog fell into a deep sickness, and, without any means to cure the beloved pet, it died. It is said that when a young boy visits the cave, you can hear the howls from that dog's ghost. When I awoke the power was back on but the internet was down. It was down all day. I tried to post the auction for this card using my phone and thought it went through but when I looked the following day it had not. This card was created from a doodle of a cup spilling it's liquid. the creature is mostly the forms of the liquid that had been spilled and the cup was removed. As I created this is what developed. Hard to get caught up on internet things when the net isn't up, but it was still a good day. Creature Card #14 Ink Edition Final bid 2320 credits. This card will go to Washington D.C. :) We figured Ash would get to go to school since the snow had pretty much cleared up and we had power and internet. When we got there a sign said NO KINDERGARTEN. Ash was very sad to see this. She had really been looking forward to being the new kid. Apparently many places in town were still suffering from power outages, but the school would likely be opened the following day. We got some shopping done and headed home. I was inspired by an old drawing I found of mine to do some of the dark black on this card. I never really got to a place where I could pick out what I thought the creature was but I really liked it so I just went with it :) Creature Card #15 Ink Edition Final bid 1000 Credits. This card is also going to Washington Dc. Beware the Ides of March. Today I took Ash to school for the first time at our new location. She is so happy to get to go to a non-uniform wearing school. After we dropped her off and the paperwork to the office we went by a shelter I had stayed at a few years back. I left them some linens, towels and a baby gate that we didn't need anymore. It was nice to see a familiar face there. I took a few things to the good will truck and Kaleb and I went to Walmart and picked up a few more items and some food for Ash's school lunches I would need to pack for a while. I worked on the card off and on through the day. We also went to my great Aunt's birthday party in the evening and had some cake and a short visit. It was nice. I was finishing up the card in the evening while Ash was watching a show. I'm not sure why but she puked all over herself, a blanket on the couch, and the floor. I had to drop the card to take care of the situation. I remember it being on the floor when I got back to it. Crazy days. The card worked out to be my first rotating card. From one direction I see one character and when I turn it to the left I see the fellow below. I enjoy when they do things like that.
