Today I tried to look at the splotch from a different perspective. I used the negative space created by the white areas of the card to create the figure in the center. The rest developed as a means of resolving the shapes found in the exterior space. Forcing myself to make sense of the entire work lead to some fun little additions. I have been considering my inspirations: Dr. Seuss Shel Silverstein, Eric Carle, Tim Burton. They created their own strange and wonderful tales with creations that accentuated the stories. They are far from perfect and I love that about them. They all remain implanted in my memory whilst many other artists and images have been forgotten remaining vague thoughts at best. Why haven't I allowed that to naturally occur in my art and satisfy me? I am warming up to the idea of illustrating. To win this card please comment on this blog saying you want to be entered to win it. After 7 days we will draw a winner. Good luck!
