I picked up some vinyl toys at Michaels craft store while I was in Portland. A friend said they had some decent ones available. They don't have as many moving parts as the official dunny and munny's do, but I think that might be nice for me as a beginner. I used the markers that came with the toy to see how they worked. I decided that you would get the result of that test run. They sorta felt like sharpies. Very thick tips. Covered pretty well but hard to control smoothly. I'm hoping to find a good pen that will cover well but still afford me the detail and control I enjoy when working on little things. This character is about 3 inches tall... I should probably go measure it. Today, yesterday's card and meditation came into play wonderfully. Life is all about perspective. Trudge on in hopes that you can get out the mud and clean off your boots one day. Congratulation Billy you won this wonderfully crazy creature trio or is that all the same creature?? Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to decide on that and a name for this fabulous face. Are you up to the task?

good thing you have it rotating, I thought it was a creature with an umbrella over it's face

Oh I guess a video would have been good too. It's hard to present a 3 dimensional object accurately in one 2d image :)

Cool! I really like it. My best friend gave me one of those for my birthday. She got me the unicorn. It did come with sharpies though.

You mean it didn't come with them? Yours sounds like it might be more along the lines of an official munny. The kid robot kind. High quality. I think the Michael's version here is a nice in between for the officials and the rose art ones. Less possible parts but nice for starting out.

Sorry I meant to say it did come with sharpies. It came with black, blue and pink sharpies. Though today I picked up some brush tip sharpies which I might use instead. Its not a munny its a tokidoki. Only the head moves. I can't wait to start working on it. I've wanted a diy vinyl toy for a while now.

I've never seen the vinyl toys at Michaels. I will have to look for them the next time I am there. I might pick one up for my niece.

I suggest asking a clerk lol. Unless you feel like buying the store lol. That store can be a death trap for me if I don't have a well defined purpose before I enter. I picked up all the little ones and larger ones they had at the time. I've got about... hmmm I'll count. I got 7 from Michaels. The larger ones (I got two) have posable arms too. I got a dog and a cat and a bear and... lol The quality of the plastic is better than with Rose art. imho

I've never seen tokidoki before. I see that the unicorn is 5 inches. The one here is closer to three and they are a very good price at Michaels. I did get some larger ones there as well. I wish I could remember the price. It was good though. If you have a local Michaels I'd check it out :)

I'm going to get some from Kidrobot next. They are better priced than the unicorn you got with more mobility. you can get a 7 inch for the same price. Here is a link. I'm going to be ordering soon. http://www.kidrobot.com/

I have heard of the tokidoki company before but I didn't know they made vinyl toys till my friend got it for me. I had only ever seen the kidrobot ones. 3/21/2013 12:43:54 pm
I will check Michaels the next time I go there. I've probably never seen them since I try not to explore too much when I am there. I'm so bad with Michaels too. When I go there I make sure I just go straight to the aisle where the item I need is and then head straight to the register because if not a $10 trip turns into $100 trip. Michaels doesn't help though because they alway have displays and baskets and such surrounding the register area.

I remember the little ceramic figures if they are similar to the ones you can get at Walmart. My mom use to do crafts as she taught Sunday school when I was little. They are great for starting on and kids. Just a little harder to keep them alive over the long term. The vinyl is nice for weight and durability.
