The inspiration for todays card was Kaleb's first poop on the potty! I was thinking about how even poop can be a beautiful thing if you have the right perspective. Mean migraine today. Possibly from all the driving and effort from yesterday.

I was able to get this little creature drawn around 1 am. Watching movies at night is so much easier than trying to draw. Saturday was a long but good day. Got to see one of my closest friends Annemarie in Portland, owner and creator of Glass Heart Studio. Took care of some shopping and added a new member to the family. I told Ash she could pick any toy at the toy store but she didn't want to. She had seen a local fair with rides that she wanted to go to. With Kaleb's age I didn't think it was going to go very well so I asked if there was anything else she wanted. We had to stop in at the pet store and she found what she wanted. Meet Mr Mohawk Climbing Man. Day 58 ring No winner yet. Here is your auction link. Good luck and Happy Bidding! Happy Birthday Mom!Click to enlarge. Shows sparkle ink. Today is my mom's birthday. Happy Birthday mom :) I had a very productive bill paying kinda day. It was glorious and jam packed with action! Well, maybe not action movie action. Paying off three credit cards completely and getting new tires makes an action packed exciting day for me. I'm heading over to Portland with the kids again tomorrow. Seeing friends and taking care of some business. It will be a long day, as this one has been. I took my parents and kids out to eat for dinner while the car was getting it's tires swapped. I wasn't able to make any art until about 9pm so I decided to go for a very mini creature. I've been wearing a pendant I made using a circle setting and I'm really enjoying it. I wanted to make one of them for you and try to keep it in the creature vein. I have found, when applying the type of acrylic glaze that I use, sparkly inks react in a wonderful way with the glaze. It is hard to explain but the sparkly moves into the glaze slightly and becomes visible from all angles and lighting; however, it does not make the image difficult to see. I wanted to highlight that interaction with this piece. I tried to make it simple but strong enough to be intriguing from a distance while worn. Since I've got a nice little trip tomorrow, and I want to make it as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, I'm going to make tomorrow's piece as soon as midnight hits. To me that feels like the same day but technically it's not and I'd rather do that then risk churning out something poor in the last moments of the day. Hope you enjoy the piece! So I'm pretty sure there weren't any entries for this card. Happens a lot earlier on in the month. I'll be sending this one over to Listia for your second chance auction. Here is the link to bid on it. Good luck and thanks for the support! So I finally got a good piece of mail from the VA. It's only taken them three years to change their minds and 6 years to decide, but the government has approved my disability for migraines at the percentage I believe the symptoms warranted based on their guidelines. Yay! I have a nice little back pay check on the way that will help me pay off my credit cards, medical bills, and get some new tires for my car (they are balder than a hairless cat on chemotherapy.) Sorry bad joke. I'm happy, but not as happy as I thought. Mostly, I think, because of shock. I've been waiting a very long time to hear from them and I just want to make sure it sticks before I let it fully sink in. When the bills are paid I will feel much more peace. I'm so glad that day is going to be seen. I've been feeling very stuck without hope these last months, I'm not sure how to feel different than that. I don't want to over-react and put myself in a bad spot. Trying to stay calm when I feel like this ink tiki fellow. He is still and solid yet smiling, and boy can he smile. Day 56 Congratulations Kristina you are the winner of this three piece ATC set and the last winner for February. Another month in the history books! I will get him cut up and stamped for you. Since you entered online through the link I have your mailing information and can get this right out to you. I actually really like having that link. It's very nice to know where to send a prize. Commenters may be tricky to contact... Speaking of which I need to get the mailing information for Brandi Kiefer. I need your information to send out your art. If I don't hear from you by the end of this month the piece will default to the other entry who's information I have received. Hope to hear from you! I got some sharpies at Staples today. I wanted to test them out to see how they compared to the various other brands of pens I frequently use. It's nice to have some new color options. I've actually used some of my pens about to their end, which is really cool. I was always so afraid of ink. It's very permanent I would draw everything first then go over that with ink. This piece was done completely with sharpies. I'm not thrilled with the photograph. I think this looks nicer in person. Hmm maybe I should try scanning it... ya never know. Normally I don't like the way the light reflects off the art when using a scanner, but it's worth a try. So I realized I was behind on my form entries and we do have a winner for yesterday and today! I'll go update yesterdays with the winner. Sorry for the confusion. Thankfully no one bid on listia yet and I was able to take them down. I've got a pounding migraine and can't get the card photographed tonight. I'll post it tomorrow. At least it was created today. Alright. I'm happy with the photograph for this day. I think it's as good a representation as I can get. So I was mistaken and discovered it just in time to correct things. We do have a winner for this card and the winner is Tiffany L. Sorry that I didn't see your qualified entry in time. I'm still getting use to having them show up in my email instead of here on the blog. It is nice to have your mailing information through the entry form so I can get the work out sooner to you, but making sure they don't get lost in the sea of daily emails is tricky... hmmm maybe I need to do a little filtering... yeah that'll help. Sorry thinking out loudish. I made eight different eye ring designs today. This is one of them that turned more into a creature portrait then just the eye close up. I like him as is in the black and white, but if the winner would like me to color it I'm happy to oblige This fits into a ring like yesterdays I just haven't quite got to making them all into rings so you can have this as is or in a ring if you choose. I can probably swing this as a pendant too if someone prefers. Had a headache this morning so just tried to work in low light and forget about it. I really like making little things. Congratulations Ungala you are the winner of today's free creature! I'm a little behind on posting creatures for prints so if anyone would like a print of any of the creatures just let me know. :)
I know how some of my supporters like their wearable artwork. Today I received an order I had made on ebay and wanted to play with them. Today I have for you the first creature ring. It is about a size 8 and is adjustable to larger sizes but not smaller. I will be coating this with an acrylic glaze and photographing the finished product. Sometimes the glaze can alter the look a bit so a heads up on that. So what do you think about creature rings? Would you carry a little creature around with you? Congratulation Mike you are the winner of this miniature masterpiece! I will do my best to remember to email you and find out if you would like this made into anything in particular or just shipped off as is. Welcome to March everyone! You are all welcome to enter again. If you didn't win one from last month there are still a few you can get in on. You must enter before 12pm pst on the 7th day after posting. For example today we are giving away Day 50. That means you have until midnight tonight to enter for day 51 and 52 - 57 are still open for entries as well. I hope that makes sense. Good luck to all who enter. My neighbor told me last night that there was a lot of craft stuff at the thrift store so I headed over in the morning to check it out. I must have missed them but I did find some other good deals. Man I love shopping at the thrift store especially with a 20% off coupon! We got some groceries after that. Far less exciting, but we should be good for a week or so. Congratulations Jamie you are the winner of this very colorful creature. I'm a little behind on mailings but will spend time this weekend working diligently on them. This will be able to go out with that batch of creatures. If you would like to name this creature Jamie I would love to include that information with the character. Only if you would like to, of course. |
